Our jewellery may look simple, but it can take months to transform an idea into a design that pleases us. Once a design is ready to make the transition from paper to metal, we fabricate a master using traditional silversmithing techniques. A mold is then made from the master, and the pieces are cast in silver, and occasionally in bronze. There's a surprising amount of work involved in cleaning up and finishing the castings, and we do all of that in our workshop. As you can imagine, working on such a small scale can be challenging.
Our creations are made to last, however, the metals we use are subject to tarnish and may require a bit of cleaning from time to time. Exposure to oxygen is what causes the tarnish, so it helps to keep your jewellery in a ziplock bag when you aren't wearing it.
We have found that
Silvo (available for $4-$5 at grocery or hardware stores) works really well to clean all of these metals. Make sure to rinse off any residue, and dry the piece thoroughly.
Other options for cleaning silver:
- Brush with fine steel wool to remove tarnish and restore the satin finish.
- Rub with a paste of baking soda and water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Rub with a silver polishing cloth
